Throughout the centuries, women have looked for ways to increase their beauty. Call it simple vanity, keeping up with friends, or wanting to attract a mate. These are possible reasons for trying to preserve youthfulness and increase beauty. It’s possible that we want to do it just for ourselves – we want to look in the mirror and see a radiant face smiling back. Maybe we will be bothered by wrinkles as we get older, or maybe we won’t be. We may see wrinkles and lines as a badge of honor for having withstood the trials that we’ve been through. Either way, it really doesn’t matter what our motivation is – we want to like what we see.
Whether you are a twenty year old woman, or you’re seventy-five, you can like what you see each day in the mirror by keeping yourself looking vibrantly alive. How?
This comes from the inside. Your diet and lifestyle will determine your health and that will reflect of the look of your skin.
Who you are, what you stand for, your passions and what makes you alive will also affect your overall well being, your health and your skin.
Skin care, cosmetics and products are only one part of the equation. An important part for sure but always remember that your skin is a reflection of your state of health.
When you combine an excellent skin care routine and a healthy lifestyle, that reflection in the mirror will always smile at you. Certainly, each woman’s needs are different depending on her age. Most women at seventy-five aren’t too worried about acne flare-ups. But the bottom line at any age is a consistent skin care regimen with products that you love to use.
Good skin care includes the following elements and are essential for everyone:
- Proper cleansing with a gentle, yet effective cleanser. Cleansing should be done both morning and night. Your cleanser should be chosen to meet the needs of your skin type.
- A good moisturizer. Even if your skin is oily, you need a good moisturizer. Again, you should choose one that is made for your skin type and your needs. For example, if you have oily skin and are prone to breakouts, you might still need moisturizer, but one that is very light and oil-free. If you are mature and worried about lines and wrinkles, you can select a moisturizer that addresses the issues of maturing skin.
- Cleansers, toners, masks and scrubs. Depending on your skin, it may benefit from daily use of a good toner, and periodic use of scrubs, masks and other skin care cosmetics. Toners help to close pores and tighten up skin. Scrubs and masks can be deep cleansing and helpful with a number of problems such as clogged pores, build up of dead skin cells, and extra moisturizing needs. Other products may be specially made for acne-prone skin, for evening skin tone or removing dark circles under the eyes.
- Good makeup. Choosing makeup that is right for your skin is essential. Again, your skin type and needs will dictate the type of makeup you should use. Don’t be afraid to try using color to perk up your lips, cheeks and eyes, but remember, sometimes less is more.
For each of us, beauty is a personal thing. Your beauty must come from the inside first, and then you can strive to enhance it from the outside. No matter your age, glowing beauty can be yours.
